What is the salary calculator?

A take-home pay calculator that converts gross pay between hourly, daily, weekly, fortnightly, monthly and annual figures and subtracts the deductions you enter. It deliberately ships no country’s tax tables — they change every year and could not be kept accurate offline — so you add your own lines: a percentage of gross or a fixed amount, plus optional progressive tax bands with a tax-free allowance. Reverse mode works back from the net pay you want to the gross you need. Everything runs in your browser and is saved on your device.

How to use Salary calculator

  1. Enter your gross pay — Type an amount and choose whether it is per hour, day, week, fortnight, month or year. Set hours and days per week, weeks per year and any unpaid days off.
  2. Add your deductions — Each line is a percentage of gross or a fixed amount per week, fortnight, month or year — for example income tax, social insurance, a pension or a union fee.
  3. Add tax bands if you need them — Tick “Use progressive tax brackets”, set the tax-free allowance and each band’s upper limit and rate. Mark pension-style lines as pre-tax to take them off before the bands apply.
  4. Read the breakdown — The table shows gross, every deduction, the total and net pay for every period, with the effective deduction rate and a net-versus-deductions bar.
  5. Work back from a target — Switch to Net → gross, enter the take-home pay you want and the tool solves the gross needed. Copy a plain-text summary from the header.

Frequently asked questions

Does it know my country’s tax rates?

No. It contains no tax tables at all, by design. Results depend entirely on the rates and amounts you enter and are not tax advice — check current rules with your tax authority or an adviser.

How are unpaid days off handled?

They reduce the days you are paid for. Hourly and daily figures stay per hour or day worked; weekly to annual figures become averages over the year.

How do the tax bands work?

Bands apply to annual taxable income — gross minus any lines marked pre-tax. The first band starts at the allowance and each band taxes only the slice of income inside it. Leave the last limit empty for no ceiling.
