A PICK chart is a Lean prioritisation tool that sorts improvement ideas into four quadrants — Implement, Challenge, Possible and Kill — by their impact and how much effort they take, so you know what to tackle first. This browser version lets you drag each idea card into place; everything is saved on your device and works fully offline.
How to use PICK chart
- Add your ideas — Create a card for each improvement idea. Give it an owner, a due date and notes on the problem and its root cause.
- Drag into a quadrant — Move each card into Implement, Challenge, Possible or Kill based on how much impact it would have and how much effort it needs.
- Review the grid — High-impact, low-effort ideas land in Implement — start there. Low-impact, high-effort ideas fall into Kill.
- Export or save — Your board is stored on your device. Export it to JSON, CSV, PNG or PDF to share or back it up.
Frequently asked questions
What do the four quadrants mean?
Implement = high impact, low effort (quick wins). Challenge = high impact, high effort (worth planning). Possible = low impact, low effort (do if spare time). Kill = low impact, high effort (drop these).
Is my board saved if I close the tab?
Yes. The board is stored in your browser on this device, so it reloads next time. Nothing is uploaded to a server.
What can I export?
You can download the board as a JSON backup, a CSV spreadsheet, or a PNG or PDF picture of the chart for sharing.
Does it work offline?
Yes. After the first load the tool runs entirely in your browser with no internet connection needed.
Tips
- Start with the Implement quadrant — those are your quick wins.
- Record the root cause on each card so the team understands why an idea matters.
- Export a PNG to drop straight into a review deck or stand-up board.
- Keep a JSON backup before a big reshuffle so you can restore the previous version.
