What is Add page numbers?

A private, in-browser tool that stamps page numbers onto every page of a PDF, with full control over where they sit and how they read. Choose the position, number format, font size, starting number and margins, then save the numbered file. Your PDF is processed entirely on your device — nothing is uploaded.

How to use Add page numbers

  1. Open your PDF — Drop a PDF onto the dropzone or click to choose a file. The page count is shown once it loads.
  2. Choose position and format — Set where numbers appear — top or bottom, left, centre or right — and pick a format such as "1, 2, 3", "1 / N", "Page 1", "Page 1 of N" or "– 1 –".
  3. Fine-tune the numbering — Set the font size, the starting number, how many leading pages to skip (handy for a cover), and the margin from the page edge.
  4. Save the numbered PDF — Apply the settings to stamp every page and save the result. Load a new PDF to number another document.

Frequently asked questions

Is my PDF uploaded to a server?

No. Page numbers are stamped entirely in your browser, so the document never leaves your device.

Can I skip the cover page?

Yes. The Skip first N pages option leaves the first pages unnumbered, which is ideal for a cover or title page.

Can I start numbering at a number other than 1?

Yes. Set the Start number field to begin the sequence wherever you need, for example when continuing from another document.

What number formats are available?

You can choose plain "1, 2, 3", "1 / N", "Page 1", "Page 1 of N", or the dashed "– 1 –" style.

Where on the page can numbers go?

Any of six positions: top or bottom, combined with left, centre or right.
