Edit PDF
Add text, rectangles, and highlights anywhere on a PDF.
Open Edit PDF →What is the Edit PDF tool?
A simple PDF editor that lets you add text, rectangles and highlights anywhere on a PDF page. It runs entirely in your browser — your file is never uploaded — and it works offline after the first load.
How to use Edit PDF
- Open a PDF — Drag a PDF onto the drop zone or click to choose a file. Its pages are rendered ready to mark up.
- Pick a tool and colour — Choose Text, Rectangle or Highlight, then set the colour and, for text, the size from 12 to 40 points.
- Add your edits — Click on a page to place text, or drag to draw a rectangle or highlight. Use Select to click an existing item and press Delete to remove it.
- Save the edited PDF — When you are done, save the document — it downloads as a new PDF with your edits baked in, leaving the original file untouched.
Frequently asked questions
Is my PDF uploaded to a server?
No. The PDF is opened and edited entirely in your browser, so the file never leaves your device — it keeps working offline too.
What can I add to a page?
You can place text, draw filled rectangles, and add semi-transparent highlights, each in the colour you choose, anywhere on any page.
Can I undo a mistake or start over?
Yes. Use Undo (or Ctrl/Cmd + Z) to step back, Select then Delete to remove a single item, or Clear all to remove every edit at once.
Does saving change my original file?
No. The tool exports a separate edited copy with _edited added to the name, so your original PDF is left exactly as it was.
Can I use a rectangle to cover up content?
A solid rectangle draws over the area visually, but the text underneath still exists in the file. For removing sensitive content, use the Redact tool instead.
Tips
- Use a white rectangle to mask an area, but reach for the Redact tool when the underlying text must truly be removed.
- Pick a tool first, then click for text or drag for rectangles and highlights.
- Press Delete to remove whatever you have selected with the Select tool.
- Highlights are semi-transparent, so the text underneath stays readable.
