Frequently asked questions
Is the tip worked out before or after the total?
The tip is calculated as a percentage of the bill amount, then added to the bill to give the total. The total is what gets divided between people.
What does 'Round each share up' do?
It rounds each person's share up to a whole unit of currency, so everyone pays a tidy amount. The breakdown then shows the slightly higher total actually collected.
Which currencies can I use?
You can pick from a range of symbols — dollar, euro, pound, manat, rouble, lira, yen, rupee, hryvnia and AED dirham — or choose no symbol at all.
Are my figures sent anywhere?
No. The calculator runs entirely in your browser and your last inputs are saved only on your device, so nothing leaves it and it works offline.
Can it split between just one person?
Yes. With one person it simply shows the total to pay; with two or more it shows what each person owes.
