What is the GPA calculator?

A free GPA calculator that works out your weighted grade-point average on the standard 4.0 scale. List each course with a letter grade and its credit hours and it shows your GPA, total credits and quality points. It runs entirely in your browser and saves your courses on your device, so it works offline.

How to use GPA calculator

  1. Add your courses — Type each course name (optional) and use the + Add course button to add a row for every class you want to count.
  2. Choose a grade — Pick the letter grade for each course from the dropdown — from A+ down to F on the standard 4.0 scale.
  3. Enter the credits — Type the credit hours for each course in the Credits column. You can use half-credit steps for courses worth less than a full unit.
  4. Read your GPA — Your weighted GPA, total credits and quality points update live in the summary panel as you edit the rows.

Frequently asked questions

What grade scale does it use?

The standard unweighted 4.0 scale, where A and A+ are 4.0, A- is 3.7, B+ is 3.3, and so on down to F at 0.0.

How is the GPA calculated?

It multiplies each course's grade points by its credit hours to get quality points, adds those up, and divides by your total credits for a weighted average.

Are my grades saved or uploaded?

Your courses are saved only in your browser on this device. Nothing is sent to a server, and the tool keeps working offline.

My school weights honours or AP courses — does this match?

Not automatically. This uses the standard 4.0 scale, so some schools' weighted or honours points will differ. Adjust the grades or credits to mirror your institution's rules.

What are quality points?

Quality points are each course's grade value multiplied by its credit hours. The total, divided by your total credits, gives your GPA.
