What is the Faraid inheritance calculator?

A free, private calculator that divides an estate among the principal heirs under Sunni inheritance law (farāʾid) — spouse, parents, children and full or maternal siblings. It works out the Qur'anic fixed shares, the residue, and ʿawl and radd adjustments as exact fractions, percentages and amounts, entirely in your browser. It's educational, not a fatwa, and runs fully offline.

How to use Faraid — Islamic inheritance calculator

  1. Set the estate and currency — Optionally enter the total estate value and pick a currency so the result shows each heir's amount, not just their share.
  2. Add the spouse and parents — Choose None, Husband or Wife/wives (set the number of wives, up to four), then tap the Father and Mother chips for any surviving parent.
  3. Enter the children and siblings — Type how many sons, daughters, full brothers, full sisters and maternal (same-mother) siblings survive.
  4. Read the division — The results table updates live, listing each heir with their share as a fraction, a percentage and — if you entered an estate value — an amount, plus notes on any ʿawl or radd.

Frequently asked questions

Is this a fatwa or religious ruling?

No. It's an educational tool that applies the standard Sunni rules for the principal heirs. For a binding ruling, or for any complex estate, consult a qualified scholar.

Which heirs does it cover?

The principal heirs: spouse, parents, children, and full and maternal siblings. Grandparents, grandchildren and paternal (consanguine) siblings are not yet modelled, so use a scholar for those cases.

What are ʿawl and radd?

ʿawl scales the fixed shares down proportionally when they would otherwise exceed the whole estate; radd returns the leftover residue to the eligible fixed-share heirs when no residuary takes it. The calculator applies both automatically and notes when they occur.

Is my data sent anywhere?

No. Everything is calculated on your device and the figures you enter never leave your browser. It also keeps working offline after the first load.

Do I have to enter an estate value?

No. The estate value is optional — leave it blank to see only fractions and percentages, or enter it to get each heir's exact amount.
