Video trimmer

Cut a clip out of a video — preview it, set the start and end points, and save the section as MP4 or WebM. Choose an exact frame-accurate cut or a fast lossless keyframe cut; either way the video is processed entirely in your browser and never uploaded.

What is the Video trimmer?

A free, private tool that cuts a clip out of a video entirely in your browser. Load an MP4, MOV, WebM or MKV, scrub the preview player, set the start and end points (or click the '= now' buttons while playing), and save just that section as MP4 or WebM. You can choose an exact, frame-accurate cut that re-encodes the clip, or a fast lossless cut that copies the original data and starts at the nearest keyframe. Processing uses the browser's own WebCodecs engine — nothing is uploaded, and no watermark is added.

How to use Video trimmer

  1. Load a video — Drop the file onto the tool or click to choose it. The preview player appears with trim sliders below.
  2. Set start and end — Drag the Start and End sliders, or play the video and use ⟦ Start = now and End = now ⟧ to mark the points precisely.
  3. Choose how to cut — Keep Exact cut ticked for a frame-accurate result, or untick it for a much faster lossless cut that snaps to the nearest keyframe.
  4. Trim and download — Pick MP4 or WebM, click Trim & save, preview the clip and download it.

Frequently asked questions

Is my video uploaded to a server?

No. The cut is performed inside your browser with WebCodecs — the tool works offline and adds no watermark.

What is the difference between the exact and fast cut?

The exact cut re-encodes the video so it starts on precisely the frame you chose. The fast cut copies the original data with zero quality loss, but video can only start on a keyframe, so the clip may begin up to a few seconds before your chosen start.

Which formats can I load and save?

Load MP4, MOV, WebM or MKV. Save as MP4 (plays everywhere) or WebM. Codecs the browser can't decode — some rare professional formats — won't work.

Does trimming reduce quality?

The fast cut is lossless. The exact cut re-encodes once at a matched bitrate, which is usually indistinguishable from the source.
