What is the Audio trimmer?

A free, private audio cutter that runs entirely in your browser. Load an MP3, WAV, OGG, M4A or FLAC file, see its waveform, and drag the start and end sliders to select exactly the part you want — previewing the selection as you go. The cut is then re-encoded on your device as MP3 (choose the bitrate) or lossless WAV. Nothing is uploaded, no account is needed, and it works offline — ideal for making ringtones, clipping a quote from a lecture, or tidying the ends of a recording.

How to use Audio trimmer

  1. Load an audio file — Drop the file onto the tool or click to choose it. The waveform appears with the whole file selected.
  2. Set the start and end — Drag the Start and End sliders — the highlighted region of the waveform shows the part that will be kept.
  3. Preview the selection — Click Preview selection to hear exactly what will be exported before you commit.
  4. Choose a format and save — Pick MP3 (with a 128, 192 or 320 kbps quality) or WAV, click Trim & save, then download the finished clip.

Frequently asked questions

Is my audio uploaded to a server?

No. The file is decoded, trimmed and re-encoded with the Web Audio API and an in-browser MP3 encoder, entirely on your device.

Which input formats work?

Anything your browser can decode — MP3, WAV, OGG and M4A/AAC everywhere, FLAC in most modern browsers.

Should I export MP3 or WAV?

MP3 keeps the file small and plays everywhere — 192 kbps is a good default. WAV is uncompressed and lossless, best when you plan to edit the clip further.

Does trimming reduce quality?

The selection is cut at sample level, so the edit itself is exact. Exporting to MP3 re-encodes the audio (a small, usually inaudible loss); exporting to WAV is lossless.
