How to use Job Safety Analysis (JSA)
- Fill in the job details — Enter the job or task title, location, date, who assessed it, the PPE required and any permits needed at the top of the form.
- Break the task into steps — Use Add step to create a numbered row for each part of the job, then describe the task step in its own words.
- List hazards and controls — For each step, note the potential hazards, the controls or safe work procedure that reduces them, and who is responsible.
- Export or print — Download the analysis as a CSV spreadsheet, or save a PNG copy to print or attach to your records.

Tips
- Write task steps in the order they actually happen, so hazards are reviewed in sequence.
- Be specific in the controls column — name the procedure, guard or PPE rather than writing 'be careful'.
- Export the CSV to keep a dated record or to import the steps into your wider safety system.
