Whiteboard
Draw, sketch and brainstorm on a freeform canvas — pen, shapes, text and sticky notes, with undo and PNG/SVG export. Expands to full screen; saved on your device; fully offline.
Open Whiteboard →What is the whiteboard?
A freeform drawing canvas for sketching, brainstorming and quick visual thinking. Draw with a pen or highlighter, add rectangles, ellipses, lines and arrows, drop in text labels and sticky notes, then select, move and delete anything on the board. Every control floats on the board itself, and the board expands to full screen for a roomy workspace. Undo and redo any step, and export the whole board as a PNG image or a crisp SVG vector. Everything runs entirely in your browser and works fully offline — your board is saved on your own device and never uploaded.
How to use Whiteboard
- Pick a tool — Choose a tool from the floating toolbar on the board — Pen, Highlighter, Eraser, Rectangle, Ellipse, Line, Arrow, Text or Sticky note. Set the colour with a swatch or the colour picker, and the line thickness with the width buttons.
- Draw on the board — Press and drag on the canvas to draw. The pen and highlighter follow your stroke freehand; the shape tools drag out from the first corner; the line and arrow tools drag from start to end.
- Add text and sticky notes — Choose Text or Sticky note and click where you want it, then type. A text box or sticky opens ready to edit — press Escape to cancel, or click away to keep it. Double-click any text or sticky later to edit it again.
- Select, move and tidy up — Switch to the Select tool to drag objects around. Click an object and press Delete (or the Delete button) to remove it, use the Eraser to remove whole objects by clicking them, or Clear to empty the board. Undo and redo sit in the same on-board toolbar.
- Expand to full screen — Click the expand button in the top-right corner to fill the whole screen — the toolbar and every control scale up with the board so you get a large, immersive workspace. Click it again, or press Escape, to return to the page.
- Export your board — Use the PNG or SVG buttons in the toolbar to save the board as a PNG image for sharing or as an SVG vector that stays sharp at any size and can be edited in vector software.
Frequently asked questions
Is my board saved if I close the tab?
Yes. The board autosaves to your browser's local storage on your device, so it is still there when you come back. It is never uploaded to a server, and clearing your browser data will remove it.
How does the eraser work?
The eraser removes whole objects, not pixels. Click or drag over a stroke, shape, text or sticky and it is deleted. Because the board is made of objects, this keeps undo and the SVG export accurate — and you can always undo an erase.
PNG or SVG — which export should I use?
PNG is a fixed-resolution image that is great for pasting into documents, chats and slides; it is exported at double resolution for sharpness. SVG is a vector that stays crisp at any size and can be reopened and edited in design tools.
Does it work on a touchscreen or tablet?
Yes. Drawing uses pointer events, so a finger, stylus or mouse all work, and the canvas will not scroll the page while you draw. A pen or stylus gives the most control for freehand sketching.
Can I undo a mistake?
Yes. Every drawn stroke, move, edit and delete is a single undo step. Use the undo and redo buttons in the header, or Ctrl+Z and Ctrl+Y (Cmd+Z / Cmd+Shift+Z on a Mac).
Is anything sent to the internet?
No. The whiteboard is 100% client-side — drawing, saving and exporting all happen in your browser, so it keeps working with no connection and nothing you draw ever leaves your device.
Can I make the board bigger?
Yes. Click the expand button in the top-right corner to go full screen. Because the toolbar floats on the board, it scales up together with the canvas, giving you a large workspace. Click expand again or press Escape to return to the normal page view.
Tips
- Use the Highlighter to emphasise areas without hiding what's underneath — it draws semi-transparent.
- Hit the expand button (top-right) for a full-screen board when you need more room to think.
- Hold the Select tool and drag to reposition anything; click an empty spot to deselect.
- Press Enter to finish a text label, or Shift+Enter to add a new line within it.
- Double-click a text box or sticky note to edit its words again at any time.
- Export as SVG when you want to keep editing the board later in vector software; export as PNG for quick sharing.
