What is the colour picker?

A free, offline colour picker that lets you choose any colour and read it as HEX, RGB or HSL, or eyedrop colours straight from an image you upload. Everything runs in your browser, so the images you load never leave your device. Use it to grab a brand colour, match a shade from a photo, or copy a value into your CSS or design tool.

How to use Color picker

  1. Pick a colour — Click the swatch to open your system colour picker, or type a value into the HEX box. The live preview and the RGB and HSL readouts update together.
  2. Copy the value you need — Use the Copy button next to HEX, RGB or HSL to put that exact format on your clipboard.
  3. Eyedrop from an image (optional) — Drag and drop or browse for a PNG, JPG, WebP or GIF, then move your mouse over the picture to sample any pixel.
  4. Extract a palette (optional) — With an image loaded, click Extract palette to pull out its main colours as chips you can click to copy.

Frequently asked questions

Are the images I upload sent anywhere?

No. The picker reads and samples your image entirely in the browser, so nothing is uploaded and it keeps working offline after the first load.

Which colour formats can I copy?

HEX, RGB and HSL. Each has its own Copy button, so you can grab whichever your CSS or design app expects.

What image types can I eyedrop from?

PNG, JPEG, WebP and GIF. Drop one onto the image panel, then hover to read the colour under your cursor.

Does it remember colours I have used?

Yes. Recent colours are kept in a small Recent list so you can re-copy them, and you can clear the list whenever you like.
